The Handicrafts Creation Fair is a unique gathering of Tunisian craftsmen, creators and designers, and a source of delight for the authentic and hand-made enthusiasts.
The 2018 edition is not an exception, with around 700 craftsmen exposing inside the trade pavilion. The innovation of that 35th edition is the presence of a 240 m2 stand for the hoteliers of the Tunisian federation offering promotional rates: a kind of invitation to stay in the different regions of the country and see craftsmen in their home!We met during the fair an electrical engineer who decided to retrain in order to revive a family tradition. His father made traditional wooden puppets, he adds to them original creations using traditional wood and hammered copper technics: chests, mirrors, desk lamps.
Graduates represent 30% of the Tunisian craftsmanship sector’s new jobs, the sector counting 156 000 organized craftsmen, and over 200 000 in the informal sector.
